Well, it looks like finally we've hit may; It's been a long run up, but the end of third term is finally within grasp. Down at the URF we're a bit sad to see the year go, so thought we'd give it a good farewell.
That's why we're hosting a classy little shindig called the Charity Speakeasy on the 29th of may from 7:30pm in falmer bar:

As May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month all the proceeds will be donated to the Macmillan Cancer Support group, and its shaping up to be a wonderful evening with some very talented people performing for us:
The Sara Oschlag Quartet
Fronted by Danish vocalist Sara, this Quartet are one of Brighton's finest Jazz bands. Having played all over the country, it's really an honour to have them at our quaint little bar, they will be playing all the classics from the great american songbook and are really something special. Catch them whilst you can!
&
The Talia Cohen Duo
These guys are one of our own! Talia of Sussex Big Band fame will be singing everything from Ella to Etta, Billie to Bassey. Expect smokey vocals and passionate piano.
We will also be holding a raffle at the event which includes various items kindly donated by independant shops in the North Laines
Tickets are only £3.50 in advance or on the door (for more information on where to buy tickets email the organiser here) so whether you're celebrating the end of the year or fancy a quiet respite from the deadlines, bring all your freinds and treat yourself for a great night for a nobel cause!

Next Tuesday 8th May, URF will be holding a members meeting in room 126 of Falmer House at 6:30pm. This is a very important meeting on two accounts:
We will be holding an election for a new role within the URF exec, a Head of Production.
We will also be discussing the likely move and refit of the URF studio over the summer.
We really want to hear your views on the move, and also need your votes to help appoint the Head of Production. For those of you who may be considering running for Head of Production, we've listed below some of what the role entails, and what we will be expected from whoever gets the position.
- The Head of Production will organise and head up the team of producers who look after URF's flagship morning and tea-time shows
- Help presenters during their training process to ensure URF has innovative and professional output
- Work with the new listening team to locate issues as well as highlight positive work within the station, ensuring that the quality of the shows are what is expected.
- Monitor the sign in book, making sure people are doing their shows, and helping to improve on air accountability
- Oversee and review URF's station sound, and help bring a greater level of quality control to URF
Vast experience is not entirely necessary, although what is crucial is an enthusiasm and motivation to work towards creating an even stronger output at URF, building upon what has been an excellent couple of years for URF.
As always, if you do have any questions, feel free to email any of the executive team. We look forward to seeing you there!
